The Marquesian Islands

The Marquesian archipelago, as a part of French Polynesia, contains all the islands of this map. The acient name of the Marquesas was “te Fenua Enata” what means Land of Man. The location, 1.500 km north east from Thahiti, 10° south and 139°west in the southpacific ozean, is really isolated, so that visitors can find huge areas of untouched nature just like in paradise.
Seven out of all up fourteen islands are inhabited. As a territory of French, the archipelago is part of the European Union. The administration is placed in Taiohae a Town in Nuku Hiva.
